We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to apply for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships Society and Enterprise panel [MSCA-IF-EF-SE] with the company BLOODGENETICS S.L.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Expansion of the portfolio of BLOODGENETICS, including the development of new NGS-targeted gene panels in haematology.
  • Design, implement and conduct experiments related to research in new genes implied in new haematological entities by doing WES, WGS, RNA expression experiments (Fluidigm platform) in patient samples.
  • Supervision of technician work.
  • Marketing tasks and supervision of genetic clinical reports.
  • Conduct data analysis and prepare data for presentation in peer-reviewed journals and at professional meetings.
  • Prepare protocols for SOP and ISOs.
  • Liaise with and coordinate experimental duties with medical Doctors from national and international Hospitals and with representatives of collaborative companies.

 

Requirements

  • Experienced Researcher with a doctoral degree in Genetics/Biology/Biochemistry or related discipline and with extensive experience in Human Genetics or Hematology and Molecular-Biochemistry/Cell biology.
  • Genetic counselling master or knowledge will be a plus
  • Experience in the use of NGS, WES, WGS, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing and/or mouse biology will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of LIMS program (Progeny LIMS system or similar) and genetic NGS data analysis.
  • Compulsory: Good track of publication record, including significant number of publications (as main author, impact factor >6) in major international peer reviewed scientific journals.
  • Mobility is compulsory: The researcher cannot have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 36 months in the last five years immediately before the call deadline (12-Sept-2018)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with other team members.
  • Organized, hard-working person and proactive, self-motivated and enthusiastic.

 

What we offer

  • 2-year research contract (upon a 6-month probationary period)
  • SALARY: Living allowance: 4.880 € / month (gross salary). This amount is then adjusted through the application of a country correction coefficient for the cost of living according to the country in which the host organisation is located (see the Marie Curie rates for Spain)
  • Mobility allowance: 600 € / month (fixed amounts, regardless of the country of recruitment, and are subject to the tax laws of the country of recruitment)
  • Family allowance: 500 € / month if the supported researcher has family obligations (fixed amount, regardless of the country of recruitment, and are subject to the tax laws of the country of recruitment).The family status of a researcher is determined at the deadline of the call.
  • Research, Training and Network Costs: 800 € per person / month
  • Management and Indirect Costs: 650 € per person / month
  • Internal application deadline for the grant deadline : 5/09/2018
  • Starting date if grant is favourable: March / April 2019

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher who is interested in joining a young and dynamic laboratory that applies state-of-the-art technology in Translational Medicine in haematology, RNA biology, Genetics and Iron Metabolism. We are located in the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital Can Ruti Campus, Badalona, Barcelona.
We are supported by national and international grants: CODYSAN2017 Towards the improvement of diagnosis and treatment in Congenital Dyserythropoyetic Anaemias and project SAF2015-70412-R Uncovering new molecular and pathophysiological networks in iron metabolism, (PI: M. Sanchez).

 

Main Responsibilities:
► Design, implement and conduct experiments related molecular links between haematology and iron metabolism identifying and characterizing new mRNAs regulated by the IRP/IRE system (Sanchez et al, Blood 2011; Luscieti et al., Blood 2017), and experiments in iron-related diseases, including congenital dyserythropoietic anaemias and other hereditary haematological diseases by doing genetic studies and using Next generation sequencing (NGS). Patient samples are provided by established partnerships with international clinical groups and national hospitals.
► Conduct data analysis and prepare data for presentation in peer-reviewed journals and at professional meetings.
► Prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals under the supervision of the project coordinators.
► Liaise with and coordinate experimental duties with medical Doctors from national and international Hospitals.

 

Requirements:
► Molecular biology and extensive molecular cloning.
► Human Genetics in hematological/cancer field, use of NGS and CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing will be a plus.
► Tissue culture and biochemistry
► Work with mice and/or zebrafish
► Flow cytometry and MACS and FACS cell sorting, will be a plus.
► Compulsory: Good track record of early achievements, including significant publications (as main author, impact factor >6) in major international peer reviewed scientific journals.
► International previous mobility will be a plus
► Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with other team members.
► Organized, hard-working person and proactive, self-motivated and enthusiastic.

Post description:

The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a recently founded institute combining basic and applied haematological cancer research.

We are looking for a highly motivated predoctoral researcher who is interested in joining a young and dynamic laboratory that applies state-of-the-art technology in haematology, RNA biology, genetics and iron metabolism.

The main research interests of the lab are to explore molecular links between haematology and iron metabolism identifying and characterizing new mRNAs regulated by the IRP/IRE system (Sanchez et al, Blood 2011 Nov 24;118(22):e168-79) and in fundamental research aiming to address the mitochondrial iron-overload phenotype in Myelodysplastic Syndrome patients. These studies are financed under the national and international grants: SAF2012/40106 Role of new IRP-target mRNAs in Cancer and Iron Biology, and DJCLS R 14/04 Deutsche Josep Carreras Leukämie-Stiftung Myelodisplastic syndromes: cause of mitochondrial iron overload in sideroblastic anemia (PI: M. Sanchez). Patient samples are provided by established partnerships with international clinical groups. We rely on cell culture and a wide variety of biochemical/genetic techniques.

Requirements:

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate, who wants to work in a young and efficient team to address new and challenging aspects of haematology and iron metabolism.

Selection criteria

  • Proven Laboratory experience especially in haematology, microscopy, RNA Biology, mouse work, and/or iron biology.
  • Good communication skills
  • Languages: English (required), Spanish (helpful).
  • Abroad laboratory experience will be a plus, as well as publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Conditions:

  • 4-year predoctoral contract. Additional expenses connected to the project are provided.
  • Expected starting date: From January 2017
